It was a thousand years since the fall of Rome. Napoleon, the French emperor marched his army through Europe.

Napoleon claimed to be a direct descendant of the Roman Emperors, who held special significance for him.

In fact he was so convinced of his alter ego that he commissioned an oil painting of himself adorned in the Roman garb and Crown.
