For over a quarter of a century he has worked in mixed media: oils, acrylics and aerosols. Intrigued by textures based on natural occurring stimuli from the surrounding environment.

The Inspiration for Abstract Art

The Greenwich Artist Robert Sutherland became inspired to produce abstract art after reading an Iain Banks novel ‘Walking on Glass’, he decided to paint the riddle posed in the book; "What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object?".

Robert paints using unconventional methods in a process which utilizes heat, random brushes, wire brushes and screwdrivers amongst other tools.
