My Cool Convertable

This was not a day for the top down.

I woke up this morning to a blizzard. My car was buried 4 inches deep in a thick blanket of snow. But hey ho that's life when you live here in the UK. The weather shifts almost hourly. The car was fine, and I cleared the top and we were off.

There is something magical about a snowy day driving along with the top down.

It is important of course to be well wrapped up, woolly hats and scarf being mandatory. The sun soon came up and it was wonderful to see people out snowball fighting and enjoying this exceptional time.

The convertible provides a sense of freedom that you just don't get in any other car. The classic beauty of a Z3 is timeless. It seems to transcend fashions and fads.

It does not try to be a super car, but it is a super car nonetheless.

Inexpensive, fun and ultimately value for money at a level you could only dream about with the likes of a Lambo or Bugatti. The Bugatti Chiron is faster but I like to take my time so I could not care less.

I would not take the Bugatti it for free. The insurance cost alone would be a complete waste of money. My old beauty wears the marks of time, like a well aged briefcase or wallet with that pleasing to the eye patina.

It just feels right. And as for the low base line of a Lambo, on British bumpy roads, well that's a joke. Every road in London is full of speed bumps, which render the Lambo a show piece only. Fit only for the show off crowd in Mayfair, happy to strut their over priced tat to an ever more angry populous being upset by the noise and very real danger of supercar crowded roads.

Here a drive is a pleasant affair.

No pressure to outshine the next supercar. We can drive at a leisurely pace and acceptable decibel level, and rather than being a constant annoyance to neighbours and onlookers, we get admiring not envious glances.

People like this car.

It has a sense of timeless style. It was in a James Bond movie, also a great selling point. It's not every car that gets that badge of honour.

So yes this is a cool convertible.
