What is OMB Social?

OMB Social is a full featured Social Networking platform. It is the core application within the OMB Suite of Applications. OMB Social is the key application which opens up the entire OMB suite of applications. Having an OMB Social Profile lets you build a network of friends and facilitates content sharing and staying connected to the people and groups who matter to you.

How do I get started?

Here is a list of steps you can choose to follow which will help you get up and running with the platform in no time. If you need any help we are here to help so feel free to use the contact form or help page to reach out to us.

  1. Register: Start by creating an account.
  2. Login: After you register for your account login with your email and password.
  3. Add a Profile Image or Avatar: Once you are logged in for the first time upload an Avatar. This is your profile image and the first thing people see when they visit your profile page. Profile images are public by default so only add an image you are comfortable publishing. Ideally it should be a recent image of you but you can use an Avatar image which represents you if you prefer.
  4. Add friends: Whilst not strictly necessary to use the platform, adding friends will immeasurably improve your experience of the site. It also opens up more site features and widens your reach.
  5. Post messages: OMB Social is built for engagement, the more you interact with your friends the richer the experience for all. Start interacting by sending, receiving and replying to messages, as well as sharing other types of communication. There are several ways to send and receive messages with OMB, here is a brief summary;
    • Status Post: This is a post on your own profile page. Status posts are public by default, but visibility can be restricted through your privacy settings. Your own status posts can be deleted by you and only you at any time.
    • Status Reply: You can only reply to members that you are friended with. This means random strangers cannot send messages to you or reply to your posts.
    • PMs or Private Messages: By definition PMs are private One to One messages between connected accounts.
    • Group Posts: Group communication is possible to limited group members.
    • Blog posts: OMB Micro-blogging is a way to send out longer posts or articles. Published articles are public and all members can comment on them.
    • Product listings: It is possible to write detailed product descriptions. Once published products are public, they can be unpublished and edited at any time.
    • Embedded Video: Blogger offers the option to embed YouTube video code and doing so will improve the performance of your article in search engines. S.E.O. or Search Engine Optimisation is a built in feature of the OMB Platform design.
    • Image Galleries: It is possible to publish images within your status posts or to your OMB Galleries. You can adjust privacy settings to limit or restrict access to both status posts and or your galleries. Please note however that once a friend is given access to your images and posts, it might not be possible to prevent them from copying or sharing your images or image URLs.
  6. Play and or host games: You can read more about OMB Gamer on this page.
  7. Trade OMB Coin. To play certain games, you will require In Game Currency or OMB Coin. OMB Coin can either be purchased with OMB Cash or Generated from Subs received or Game Winnings. You can read more about OMB Coin on this page.

What if I forget my password?

Your password is encrypted, so once you create it, only you will know it. Keep it safe and do not share it. If you lose or forget your password you can request a temporary one here: Forgot Password. A temporary password will be emailed to your registered email. Login with your new temporary password and if you wish to change it to one of your own creation you can change it from within your settings.

How do I protect my privacy?

Always register with a valid email and a unique username. Your email and password are private, visitors to your page will never see them so don't share them with anybody else. If you want to change your email and password, you can do this via your privacy settings. If you want to restrict the viewers of your content, again you can do this via your privacy settings. We will never send you SPAM emails, so never send your password information to anybody who emails you. If you create a temporary password, change it to one you prefer after you log back in. When you build your network of friends it is safest to add friends or family and generally people you actually know or have met in person. If you wish you can unfriend or block a person. If you post something you don’t want in the public domain, you can edit or delete the post. Never post personal information such as date of birth or your personal address in a public forum. To send information to a friend privately use the PM Private Message System.
